Victorian Government will start accepting new Registrations of Interest (ROIs) on 7 July 2021. Victoria has been allocated with 3,500 subclass 190 places, and 500 subclass 491 places. Applicants working in nominated or closely related occupation may be invited. For example, if you are working as a Personal Care Assistant and your nominated occupation is Software Developer you may not be able to get invitation.
What is New
- The removal of the minimum experience and hours worked requirement.
- An increase in the number of target sectors.
- Applicants working in working in cyber security area are more likely to get invited.
- Applicants using their STEMM skills in a business precinct will be highly regarded for nomination. Examples of business precincts are:

- have had your Registration of Interest (ROI) selected
- live and work in Victoria.
- work in a Victorian target sector using your STEMM skills.
- be under 45 years of age.
- have at least competent English.
- have a valid skill assessment.
- have achieved at least 65 points ( including state nomination point 5 points for subclass 190 or 15 points for subclass 491 ).
Target Sectors
You must be working in one of the following target sectors:
- Health
- Medical research
- Life sciences
- Agri-food
- Advanced manufacturing
- New energy, emissions reduction and circular economy
- Digital
- Cyber Security skills only (subclass 190)
- All digital skills (subclass 491)
Example 1. A software developer working on software for hospitals is working in the health sector.
Example 2. A lecturer in biotechnology working in a university is considered to be working in life sciences.
